One good reason to stand by a girlfriend who has cheated might not feel like enough in the grand scheme of things. But when you combine that one good reason with several others you view standing by your girlfriend and really working things out in an entirely new and different light.

Perhaps that best thing to know is that you do not have to make any decision the moment you find out. In fact, it's best to wait a little while. Here are a few reasons you might want to consider staying with your cheating girlfriend.

1) You really do love her. Chances are you've been mulling over the idea of happily ever after with her. It's equally possible that she has been thinking the same thing about you. Her affair honestly has little to do with how she feels about you. She can love you just as much as you love her and have still cheated on you. If you love her from the bottom of your heart that alone is a reason worthy of giving her a second chance.

2) You feel that you are at least partially responsible for her cheating. While it was entirely her decision to cheat you may have created an environment where that decision was the more likely outcome. Before you stay with her out of guilt though you need to closely examine the motivation. Guilt alone is no reason to stand by your woman but when combined with other compelling reasons can definitely be another check mark in the favor column.

3) Forgiveness is divine. Everyone messes up. It happens in relationships all the time. Cheating might be a completely new level of messing up to you but it isn't the end of the world and doesn't have to be the end of your relationship. Forgiving your girlfriend for cheating will be a huge weight off your shoulders and hers.

4) You believe she'll never do it again. While it's not generally a good idea to say "never" there are times when the guilt is so profound that it's a very believable claim. If you believe her when she says it won't happen again it's a good sign that she is truly sincere. On a side note, unless you find out why she cheated in the first place it's unlikely that she can honestly make that claim. Get to the bottom of things first.

5) It was the first time. It's one thing for a first time cheating girlfriend. Serial cheaters or those that keep cheating are another matter altogether.
